Our Adventure… so far.

Hello everyone, welcome to our sailing adventure! First, apologies for taking so long to publish this first blog. Getting online and finding the time and energy to write has been hard. (Seasickness is no joke!)

We started our journey in Inverness Marina and made our way west along the Caledonian Canal with Donald and Fran. It took us three days to get to Neptunes Steps. Having our folks along made the many locks and swing bridges easier to navigate. Handling the lines for our 25 ton steel beast was a group effort and we are sincerely grateful for their help. Especially as some of the time we had 4 boats in a lock. Our brother Roddy, niece Ruby-June and nephew Jasper came for a visit in Fort Augustus and the kids helped us going up through those locks. The Canal runs through some of the most beautiful parts of Scotland. We did not see Nessie the Lochness monster, but Urquhart Castle was showing off in the beautiful sunshine!

Shona and Alistair arrived with things we had forgotten and loads of love! We said goodbye to Donald and Fran and spent a couple of days with our Redburn folks and they helped us make sense of our new home. We said goodbye to them and our princess Roxy dog.

We then spent two hours going down the 9 locks at Neptune steps, this was not fun. It was hot and we had 4 other boats going down with us. We had to walk the boat through as it was only myself and FInn. Finn pulled and I navigated, no easy job when our boat could easily smash a hole in the side of the other GRP boats.

Love to all…
